SFL 2010/2011 Match Day 10 Replacement Matches 3rd April 2011

Two games will be played on Sunday the 3rd of April 2011 at the Rakan Muda Complex in Puchong.

These two games are replacement matches to facilitate for the KLIUC players who had their exams in Match Day 10.

Sun, 3rd April 2011

Game 1 – Bangi Rusty Blade vs. KLIUC Griffin

(2.00pm – 4.00pm)

Referees: Taqi & Muiz

Bangi Rusty Blade is already involved in two surprise of the season game. One in the game that saw them beating league leaders and defending champions, Gang Bintang. The second was last weekend as they struggle against Gracebandy!Co. The main problem for the Green Army is their inconsistent form and discipline as whole. Recently, they have managed to iron out their discipline problems and focus well but alas their inconsistency could jeopardize their aspirations of staying third in the league.

KLIUC Griffins lost again against Salibandy!Co. and are still looking for a win in the league. If they focus on defending and attack the weakness in the Green Army side they could probably get the surprise win of the season. But like I say, they would have to defend very well first as the Green Army, no matter how bad they seem, have a handful of players who could win games.

Prediction:

Bangi Rusty Blade to win this.

Players to watch (Bangi Rusty Blade): Hafidz, Jun Hui, Faz & John.

Players to watch (KLIUC Griffins): Zuhri, Naufal, Amirul & Adi.

Game 2- KLIUC Hornets vs. GMI White Knights

(4.00pm - 6.00pm)

Referees: Faz & Naufal

KLIUC Hornets could only watch as greatly under strength Rascals who came with only 6 outfield players ran rings around them. Hornets could probably learn from the fact that 5 to 6 goals out of the 14 conceded last week was due to their defence ‘ball-watching’ and allowing Rascals to play the passes into the blind side. And if not for the efforts of Azmill, Hornets could have lost by a bigger margin. Hornets did score 4 and this could be their way to beating the White Knights. Quick breakaways and passes between Azim and Ifat caused problems for Rascals as well. Hornets should play to their strength and attack the White Knights from the starting whistle.

GMI White Knights played with heart and courage but again their defence did not provide the cover for their goalkeeper. A few slip-ups could be costly especially with the likes of Khalid, Lada, Jethro and Rizal around. And that was what the White Knights discovered. The White Knights would have to be more decisive too upfront as they keep playing too many blind passes which resulted in quick counter-attacks against them.

Prediction:

Hornets to win by a big margin.

Players to watch (KLIUC Hornets): Taqiuddin, Azim, Muizuddin, Nura Dyla, Ifat & Azmill.

Players to watch (GMI White Knights): Ridha, Amai, Bard, Shahir & Zaiff.

The SFA wishes every team good luck and may fair play triumph!

SFL 2010/2011 Match Day 11 Preview 26th March 2011

Match Day 11 will be played on Saturday the 26th of March 2011 at the Rakan Muda Complex in Puchong.

Match Day 10 saw Gang Bintang snatching the win against Subang Rascals with a score of 9-5. With this win Gang Bintang looks set to clinch their second title in a row! In the other match, Salibandy!Co. manage to hold a resurgent Gracebandy!Co. with a 9-6 win.

This weekend SFL 2010/2011 sets to continue with many teams eyeing for a better position in the league.

Sat, 26th March 2011

Game 1 – Bangi Rusty Blade vs. Gracebandy!Co.

(2.00pm – 4.00pm)

Referees: Taqi & Sjaiful

Bangi Rusty Blade last outing was a historical win against Gang Bintang, a feat second to none so far in the league. With such high level of discipline shown in the last game, Bangi Rusty Blade looks much better compared to earlier games. The only challenge for the Green Army is, if they can keep up the same kind of play and challenge Subang Rascals for the second spot. They have the quality in their pool of players but will they be able to play consistently week in week out with that same tenacity, discipline and teamwork?

Gracebandy!Co. started lost and unorganised against Salibandy!Co. but finish strongly and were unlucky not to get a win. With Gerard leading the team from the bench, Gracebandy!Co. looks a better outfit. Perhaps, all Gracebandy!Co. really need is a coach to solve the team’s problems. Gracebandy!Co. is never a bad team, it has the promises of a young and enthusiastic team with big-hearted players. Gracebandy!Co. certainly need to sort out their defence and Anton and Joo Min needs to spearhead their attack with more potency as these two quick pace forwards are definitely a delight to watch when they attack as a pair!

Prediction:

Bangi Rusty Blade to continue their winning streak.

Players to watch (Bangi Rusty Blade): Hafidz, Jun Hui, Faz & John.

Players to watch (Gracebandy!Co.): Philip, Gerard, Anton & Joo Min.

Game 2- KLIUC Hornets vs. Subang Rascals

(4.00pm - 6.00pm)

Referees: Jethro & Gerard

KLIUC Hornets will go into this game without inspirational skipper Muiz who is away this weekend. The onus will definitely be on their player-manager, Taqi, to lead the team against an opposition looking set to get back into winning ways. Hornets would have to sit back and defend as a team and counter Rascals quickly before they can organize. Hornets have shown great resilience when they face tougher oppositions therefore Subang Rascals will not get the win easy.

Subang Rascals would like to put last week’s game at the back of their head and focus on maintaining as runner-up in the league and with the Green Army closing in, Rascals cannot afford to slip. Not much to be said here, just expect Rascals to go out on full cylinders firing away at the Hornets as they are definitely hungry for goals after being tamed by Gang Bintang. Their only obstacle would definitely be the Hornets goalkeeper, Azmill, who have been in excellent form the whole season.

Prediction:

Subang Rascals to win by a big margin.

Players to watch (KLIUC Hornets): Taqiuddin, Azim, Muizuddin, Nura Dyla, Paez & Azmill.

Players to watch (Subang Rascals): Dennis, Gan, Calle, Carlos, Henrik, Sjaiful & Harry.

Game 3 – Gang Bintang vs. GMI White Knights

(6.00pm – 8.00pm)

Referees: Arizal & Naufal

Gang Bintang is facing a totally different team from last weekend’s outing. Their opponents this week are young, speedy, hardworking and never gives up. Gang Bintang should not have a problem overcoming their opponents this weekend but they should always be on their toes, as many teams would love to get a scalp of the defending champions. Gang Bintang’s strength is their attack and its best if they just keep attacking since its often said that attack is the best form of defence, so much so as their defence has been a suspect this season.

GMI White Knights played extremely well against Gracebandy!Co. in their last outing. They definitely proved me wrong and showed that they are not giving up. This revitalized team played quick attacking floorball, which probably surprised their last opponents. Against Gang Bintang though, White Knights would have to defend strongly against the likes of Khalid, Lada, Rizal and Jethro who will definitely punish them if given the opportunity. White Knights should respect their opponents but should not be afraid to attack them when the opportunity arises. Like I said earlier, Gang Bintang defence has been woeful at times, so probably they would want to exploit that part of the defending champions.

Prediction:

Gang Bintang to win this game comfortably.

Players to watch (Gang Bintang): Lada, Anuar, Jethro, Gafur, Rizal & Ilyaz.

Players to watch (GMI White Knights): Ridha, Amai, Bard, Shahir & Zaiff.

Game 4 – KLIUC Griffins vs. Salibandy!Co.

(8.00 pm – 10.00 pm)

Referees: Song Sing & Hafidz

KLIUC Griffins has steadily improved too but is still looking for their first win. Scoring is not a problem compared to their defence. They have a very good goalkeeper in goal, a steady defence so one do wonder how do they actually concede so much at times. Key players Naufal and Amirul would have to step up their game big time in these last few matches as Griffins look for their maiden win in the league. Naufal must not be afraid to move up and join the attack. Amirul on the other hand, should shoot more as he always gets into good positions but often chooses to pass instead. As a team, Griffins are united, and they should use that to defend and attack as a team.

Salibandy!Co. manage to run away with a win against Gracebandy!Co. but should be worried as they allowed Gracebandy!Co. back into the game and put them in unnecessary pressure. Salibandy!Co. is a very good team but do concede unnecessary goals at times thus putting themselves in unfavourable position and at times costing the win. Alvin, Terence and Daniel have to play a bigger part in organizing the team especially in their defence. Against Griffins, Salibandy!Co. would face a challenge as the Griffins has nothing to lose and would fancy a win against anyone.

Prediction:

Salibandy!Co. to put Griffins away comfortably.

Players to watch (KLIUC Griffins): Zuhri, Naufal, Amirul & Adi.

Players to watch (Salibandy!Co.) : Alvin Lee Jin Aun, Terence, Ravi & Daniel Phang

The SFA wishes every team good luck and may fair play triumph!

SFL 2010/2011 Match Day 10 Preview 19th March 2011

Match Day 10 will be played on Saturday the 19th of March at the Rakan Muda Complex in Puchong.

There will only be two games played this weekend as KLIUC Hornets (who are supposedly to be playing against GMI White Knights) and KLIUC Griffins (who are supposedly to be playing against Bangi Rusty Blade) are in the midst of their exams. These two games will be played on 3rd April 2011. The SFA wishes all players sitting for the exams best of luck!

Back to the league, despite the fact that only two games will be played this weekend, it still promises to be a mouth-watering weekend in the SFL 2010/2011 as the first game will see a derby match followed by a match which could, I reiterate, which could decide the championship this season.

Sat, 19th March 2011

Game 1 – Gracebandy!Co. vs. Salibandy!Co.

(6.00pm – 8.00pm)

Referees: Arizal & Sjaiful

Gracebandy!Co. were peaking at the end of Round 1 in the league but somehow seem to be losing the momentum (and players). The team looks unorganised and seems to be lacking self-belief. Losing twice in a row against the Hornets and White Knights is definitely a sign that something need to be done fast and they could fancy their chances in this derby to pick up their game after upsetting Salibandy!Co. in Round 1.

Salibandy!Co. lost narrowly against the Hornets in their last game. Against their fellow rivals too, they would not want to lose again. Salibandy!Co. is a team full of promises and individual flair just lacking that teamwork that unites a team together. They really need their senior players to guide them together and ensure that the team start playing together especially defensively as its quite a horror show at times, despite them having a really reliable goalkeeper. Their players have the technical ability to shoot, and I recommend they just do that and push forward more to suffocate their opponents.

Prediction:

Salibandy!Co. get their revenge in this derby.

Players to watch (Gracebandy!Co.): Philip, Gerard, Anton & Joo Min.

Players to watch (Salibandy!Co.) : Alvin Lee Jin Aun, Ravi & Daniel Phang

Match of the Week!

Game 2- Subang Rascals vs. Gang Bintang

(8.00pm - 10.00pm)

Referees: Alvin & Muiz

Subang Rascals has been pretty quiet coming into this game. No idea which of its three goalkeepers will turn up and definitely no one has any idea how many of their players will turn up. Rascals has definitely surprise some teams by turning up with 8 players and still end up scoring freely against their opponents. However against Bintang, they would need to be more prepared especially if the Singapore contingent is in town. I guess player-coach Dennis Thulin has something up his sleeve and we could see a tactical approach employed by the Rascals in this game.

Gang Bintang finally lost against the Green Army and definitely a historic result in the history books of the SFA. Despite the loss, the Bintang players still look cheerful and in fact congratulated their opponents for stepping up against them. Against Rascals, Bintang faces probably the fiercest rivalry. Rumours is that the Singapore contingent will check into Puchong and this could just revitalize a weary looking Bintang team. There is no way Bintang will lie down and allow Rascals to win this game and losing could have a major repercussion for them. Knowing all this, Bintang will be on fire and ready to bring the mighty Rascals down again.

Prediction:

Gang Bintang to pick up the pieces and win valuable championship points.

Players to watch (Subang Rascals): Dennis, Gan, Calle, Carlos, Henrik, Sjaiful & Harry.

Players to watch (Gang Bintang): Lada, Anuar, Jethro, Gafur, Rizal & Ilyaz.

The SFA welcomes all floorballers and supporters to this weekend’s game to witness some top notch floorball!

SFL 2010/2011 Match Day 9 Preview 5th & 6th March 2011

Match Day 9 will be played on Saturday the 5th of February and Sunday the 6th of February at the Rakan Muda Complex in Puchong.

Highlight of Match Day 8 was definitely the game between Bangi Rusty Blade and Subang Rascals. Rascals managed to overcome the Green Army, as well as getting their long-awaited revenge, in a very exciting and close match full of passion and incidences. Despite small scuffles between the two sides, the spirit of the game prevailed and both teams left the court knowing that they gave their best to their respective teams and acknowledge the friendship bond that ties all players as one in the Selangor Floorball Association

Sat, 5th March 2011

Game 1 – Bangi Rusty Blade vs. Gang Bintang

(6.00pm – 8.00pm)

Referees: Taqi & Muiz

Bangi Rusty Blade played extremely well against the Rascals last weekend. They were courageous and pushed the Rascals all the way to the end of the match. The high-court pressure worked for the Green Army and they might want to employ the same tactical approach to the game this weekend as they face another mighty opponent, Gang Bintang. To win, the Green Army simply has to stop Bintang from scoring freely, defend as a unit, press the Bintang defence high up and grab their own chances. Nevertheless, the Green Army has to be more discipline and maintain their cool and focus if they want to win this one.

Gang Bintang has never been defeated and would not want to be defeated this weekend. Their horrendous display against the Hornets are forgotten but it would do them well to be aware of what the Green Army are actually capable of doing. Bintang would have to be more resilient as they will face a bunch of stubborn, hardworking and dedicated team; in short the Green Army is a team that never gives up. Bintang also at times lose their cool and that dampens their performance at times. Bintang would do well to just play the attacking floorball that they are so famous for and keep their defence tight.

Prediction:

Gang Bintang to win in this very high adrenaline game.

Players to watch (Bangi Rusty Blade): Hafidz, Jun Hui, Faz & John.

Players to watch (Gang Bintang): Lada, Anuar, Jethro, Gafur, Rizal & Ilyaz.

Game 2- KLIUC Hornets vs. Gracebandy!Co.

(8.00pm - 10.00pm)

Referees: Faz & Jethro

KLIUC Hornets goes into this game eyeing the third placing in the league. They have been improving and work better now as a team. Against Gracebandy!Co. , Hornets would have to watch the quick attacking players that can hurt them if given the space to roam. Hornets strength is in their ability to play as a unit, both defensively and offensively and if they can keep this up, they will keep surprising their opponents.

Gracebandy!Co. has been improving since the league started and their most memorable win would be against fellow brother team, Salibandy!Co. The team has also been more consistent and playing well as a team. They would do well to keep improving as a team and work on defending as a team. Against Hornets, they would have to be careful as Hornets are playing more and more cohesively as the games move on. It will be tough but Gracebandy!Co. could win if they can shut the quick Hornets attacks and defend well.

Prediction:

KLIUC Hornets to pick up full points.

Players to watch (KLIUC Hornets): Taqiuddin, Azim, Muizuddin, Nura Dyla, Paez & Azmill.

Players to watch (Gracebandy!Co.): Philip, Gerard, Anton & Joo Min.

Sun, 6th March 2011

Game 3 – Subang Rascals vs. KLIUC Griffins

(2.00pm – 4.00pm)

Referees: Hafidz & Gerard

Subang Rascals faced a very resilient side last weekend. On the other hand, they did not seem to get the flow going for them and in the end had to settle for the two penalties given to them to help them overcome the Green Army. But as said over and over again, the sign of any great team is overcoming the odds. This weekend the Rascals are set for an easier game and could use this game to prepare for the cruncher against Gang Bintang in two weeks time. On another note, Dennis Thulin managed to get the 100th goal for the Rascals this season.

KLIUC Griffins are walking into a nightmare this weekend. During their last encounter, the Rascals banged 20 goals against them and tore them apart. But Griffins should be more confident of themselves as they have slowly improved as more of their new players are gaining experience. Griffins would do well to keep the score low against the Rascals and even steal a few goals for themselves as the Rascals do have a tendency to switch off against weaker opponents especially so in the start of the second and third period.

Prediction:

Subang Rascals to win this game comfortably.

Players to watch (Subang Rascals): Dennis, Gan, Calle, Carlos, Henrik, Sjaiful & Harry.

Players to watch (KLIUC Griffins): Naufal, Amirul & Adi.

Game 4 – Gracebandy!Co. vs. GMI White Knights

(4.00 pm – 6.00 pm)

Referees: Alvin & Terence

Gracebandy!Co. have been doing much better recently. However, their defenders are usually sitting too deep and their forwards and centre too far up thus leaving a huge gap in the middle. Against stronger oppositions, they will be punish. They would do well to look at their team tactics again. Against the White Knights Gracebany!Co. should just keep their defence tight and take their chances in front of goal. But they still have to watch out for the lightning fast players in their opponent’s side who can hurt them if given the space and time.

GMI White Knights managed to beat Gracebandy!Co. in the first round of the league. A repeat of that win is unlikely after watching GMI White Knights playing in their last few games. The White Knights does not seem to be improving and have in fact been playing very poorly in their last few games and especially so against Salibandy!Co. last weekend. They seem to have lost the passion that spurred them on early in the league. Defensively they have been woeful, letting in unnecessary goals. Offensively, they are not picking up their players nor shooting well at goal and often finding their attacks leading to nothing. The White Knights would have to pick up the pieces and improve from here on.

Prediction:

Gracebandy!Co. to get their revenge after losing to the White Knights in the first round.

Players to watch (Gracebandy!Co.): Philip, Gerard, Anton & Joo Min.

Players to watch (GMI White Knights): Ridha, Amai, Bard, Shahir & Zaiff.

Game 5 – KLIUC Hornets vs. Salibandy!Co.

(6.00 pm – 8.00 pm)

Referees: Suresh & Naufal

KLIUC Hornets lost by a goal against Salibandy!Co. when they last met. It was a game Hornets should have won. Hornets have been improving since they met Salibandy!Co. and this match should be another mouth watering game as both teams are equally strong. Hornets would do well to defend stubbornly and grab the chances that fall on their path.

Salibandy!Co. is a team full of promises. They would want to win this match to continue their fight for a third placing in the league at least. This team is a delight to watch when they are winning or when they are attacking but when the odds are down, they can be pretty woeful especially at the back. Their defence still need some tuning and due to this defence to, their key player Alvin is being given limited freedom to roam and join the attack. He is constantly there in their own half helping the defence, which is quite a waste as he is one of the better offensive player and shooter in the team.

Prediction:

KLIUC Hornets put the pressure on the Green Army with another win.

Players to watch (KLIUC Hornets): Taqiuddin, Azim, Muizuddin, Nura Dyla, Paez & Azmill.

Players to watch (Salibandy!Co.) : Alvin Lee Jin Aun, Ravi & Daniel Phang

THE SFA WISHES ALL TEAMS GOOD LUCK AND LET FAIR PLAY PREVAIL!

SFL 2010/2011 Match Day 8 Preview 27th February 2011

Match Day 8 will be played on Saturday the 27th of February at the Rakan Muda Complex in Puchong. Match Day 8 marks the beginning of Round 2 in SFL 2010/ 2011.

Match Day 7 saw some great matches being played here in the Selangor Floorball League 2010/2011. The Green Army showed that they are not backing from the title challenge as they came back from behind to silence Salibandy!Co. Gracebandy!Co. resisted the Griffins passion and threw water on their fire. The Rascals dished our some cruel lessons for the White Knights as well as breaking records along the way. Bintang proved themselves to be worthy champions grabbing a win against the Hornets even when the odds are down, definitely the trademark of a champion. Hornets on the other hand deserve special mention here as they stretch the champions literally to the end of their wits!

Sun, 27th February 2011

Game 1 – KLIUC Hornets vs. Gracebandy!Co. *NOTE THIS GAME HAS BEEN POSTPHONED TO A LATER DATE.

(10.00am – 12.00pm)

Referees: Hafiz & Jethro

KLIUC Hornets played extremely well against the current champions last weekend. They almost got away with a win but Bintang would just not let that happen. Hornets have grown from strength to strength since the season started. As a team, Hornets have shown resistance and dish out some impressive play-ups and defended really well. Hornets are now surely eyeing the top four positions in the league and could be the surprise team of the season. They would do well to grab another victory against Gracebandy!Co. to kick start the second league.

Gracebandy!Co. have only so far manage to beat the two cellar teams in the league and definitely struggled against stronger oppositions. As a team Gracebandy!Co. need to be more organize especially in their defence. Their goalkeeper is fast improving but his defence is just woeful at times. They would do well to get a coach to actually guide and organize them through these games. Offensively, they have been superb, breaking often into fast counter-attacking moves although they could be clinical in their finishing. With all that said, Gracebandy!Co. is definitely a team for the future and with more practice and guidance they will succeed eventually.

Prediction:

KLIUC Hornets to win comfortably.

Players to watch (KLIUC Hornets): Taqiuddin, Azim, Muizuddin, Nura Dyla, Paez & Azmill.

Players to watch (Gracebandy!Co.): Philip, Gerard, Anton & Joo Min.

Game 2- KLIUC Griffin vs. Gang Bintang

(12.00pm - 2.00pm)

Referees: Alvin & Terence

KLIUC Griffins played whole-heartedly against their opponents but that was just not enough. There is a lot of practice and match experience needed in this team before they can actually win any games at all this season. Will Griffins ever get a win? They could if they organize their defence, work on their individual techniques and team tactics. In goal, they have a gem of a goalkeeper, but they might lose him next season if they do not improve together. Against Bintang this weekend, they look set to receive more slaughtering.

Gang Bintang almost choked last weekend but some impressive individual plays saw them grabbing a win, minutes before the game ended. What Bintang faced last weekend was an emphatic display of tactical floorball shown by Hornets. They defended as a team, closed the Bintang players quickly and attacked quickly when they get the break. Bintang would do well to include some system into their game. The last game would have surely shown them that individual flair might not be enough to win some games. Captain Jethro deserves a mention here as he managed to cool down his hot-headed players and stop them from getting sent off and focus on getting the win. His job has probably just begun as the onus will be on him to set the system in the team and against Griffins it would be a good day to start.

Prediction:

Gang Bintang would be too strong for their opponents. Expect a big scoreline in favour of the defending champions.

Players to watch (KLIUC Griffins): Naufal, Amirul & Adi.

Players to watch (Gang Bintang): Lada, Anuar, Jethro, Gafur, Rizal & Ilyaz.

Game 3 – Salibandy!Co. vs. GMI White Knights

(2.00pm – 4.00pm)

Referees: Suresh & Jethro

Salibandy!Co. have been promising this season but only in glimpses. They have yet to really perform to their full potential. Their defence has been letting in goals, more than their offence could score thus losing critical games such as the two goal lead thrown away against the Green Army last weekend. The need to strengthen their defence has been reiterated many times but they have yet to response to that call. Against White Knights though, Salibandy!Co. looks set for a comfortable win.

GMI White Knights would want to leave memories of their last game far behind. They were obviously overwhelmed by the Rascals. White Knights though have improved since joining the Selangor Floorball Association this season. Technically, their players would need to catch up fast. Tactically, they are in general organized. With their speed and passion for the games, the White Knights could pose a threat to their oppositions but they would have to deal with the Salibandy!Co. attacks. The key to winning here is to organize their defence and shut Salibandy!Co. out while grabbing the chances on the other end.

Prediction:

Salibandy!Co. to win this game comfortably.

Players to watch (Salibandy!Co.) : Alvin Lee Jin Aun, Ravi & Daniel Phang

Players to watch (GMI White Knights): Ridha, Amai, Bard, Shahir & Zaiff.

Match of the week!

Game 4 – Bangi Rusty Blade vs. Subang Rascals

(4.00 pm – 6.00 pm)

Referees: Muiz & Taqi

Bangi Rusty Blade has been blowing hot and cold. Losing uncharacteristically against the Hornets dampen their title charge. Their strength lies in their team spirit and solidarity as a team but there lies also their weakness as individual players tends to lose cool and control often enough bringing the whole team down with them. The Green Army has good and experienced players in their side, good enough to match any team in the league but perhaps their confidence level is milder compared to the Rascals and Bintang players. To overcome the Rascals, the Green Army would have to play and fight as a team as they can be sure that the Rascals is seeking revenge for the shock defeat during Round One.

Subang Rascals have been riding on the high side since the loss to Gang Bintang. Seemingly, only the defending champion has the ability to beat the Rascals, especially so with their whole line of Singapore imports. Against the Green Army, the Rascals would be out for revenge. And the Green Army might be facing the wrath of the mighty Rascals who have been scoring freely and breaking teams down without mercy. The Rascals the Green Army is facing is definitely a different side from the one they beat in December 2010. Now the Rascals have been playing week-in and week-out, displaying quick, organized play-ups with a solid defence. The Rascals are definitely ready and waiting.

Prediction:

Subang Rascals to get their revenge in this very close game.

Players to watch (Bangi Rusty Blade): Hafidz, Jun Hui, Faz & John.

Players to watch (Subang Rascals): Dennis, Gan, Calle, Carlos, Henrik, Sjaiful & Harry.
