Selangor Floorball League 2010/2011: Matchday 1 Summary

Matchday 1 was a blast ! It was totally great to see everyone again and all fired up to play their first league match; debutants, juniors, seniors, veterans, supporters, practically everyone. Here is the Matchday 1 summary.

Game 1 - GMI White Knights 6 - 11 Salibandy!Co.

GMI White Knights and Salibandy!Co. helped us to start the new season with an exciting match. Both teams have shown great perseverance in trying to clinch the precious victory. GMI White Knights gave Salibandy!Co. a scare as they took the lead first. However, with Salibandy!Co.'s experience in the league, they have overcame the obstacles and scored in successive runs. GMI White Knights played really well too as their never-dying spirit was well noted. Both goalkeepers have shown great consistency as they made a couple of crucial saves to keep their team competent in the scoreline.

The player to watch was definitely Salibandy!Co.'s Alvin Lee, as he scored a hat trick and set up a goal for his teammate. A great performance by both teams but Salibandy!Co. was the better side.

Goalscorers (GMI White Knights):
Ridha Hafidz (1), Muhd. Lukman (1), Ahmad Syahir (1), Bakhtiar Kamal Ariff (2), Aizuddin Akmal (1)

Goalscorers (Salibandy!Co.):
Alvin Lee Jin Aun (3), Terence (1), Kel Sern (1), Daniel Phang (2), Ravi (1), Mei Chee (1), Leon (1), Alvin L. (1)

Best Player (GMI White Knights) : Bakthtiar Kamal Ariff (2 goals, 1 assist)
Best Player (Salibandy!Co.): Alvin Lee Jin Aun (3 goals, 1 assist)

Game 2 - Gracebandy!Co. 2 - 8 KLIUC Hornets

Gracebandy!Co. and KLIUC Hornets' match is another game that was entertaining. Gracebandy!Co, a new outfit in the league this season, gave last season's 4th-placed Hornets a surprise as they took a 2-goal lead. But Hornets bounced back and their counter-attack proves to be worthy as they managed to catch Edmond Wong, Gracebandy!Co's goalkeeper, by surprise in few encounters and clinched a valuable victory.

Taqiuddin of Hornets played a commanding role and he has helped his side to victory by scoring two goals and was featured in several key passes. By the end of the game, KLIUC Hornets clinched the valuable two points in the opening day by winning the game 8-2.

Goalscorers (Gracebandy!Co.):
Anton (1), Joo Minn (1)

Goalscorers (KLIUC Hornets):
Taqiuddin (2), Muizzudin (2), Azim (1), Apek (1), Zain (1), Azman (1)

Best Player (Gracebandy!Co.): Anton (1 goal)
Best Player (KLIUC Hornets): Taqiuddin (2 goal)

Game 3 - Gang Bintang 17 - 1 KLIUC Griffin

The defending champions began their campaign with a fashionable way, by demolishing their opponent. Gang Bintang proved to be too strong for the young KLIUC Griffin squad as they thrashed them 17 - 1. Throughout the match, Gang Bintang was dominating in ball possession and has been firing in all cylinders. Their defence was well-organized as they shut off the Griffin's attack in many occasions. Last season's top player, Mohammad Khalid proved he is still Gang Bintang's goalscoring machine as he scored 5 goals in this game. But KLIUC Griffin managed to entertain the crowd as Medi scored a consolation goal for the away team and leaving Illyaz no chance to save the shot.

However, the most notable player was Jethro Wong, who began his official debut as the new Gang Bintang skipper. His inspiring performance in the game has seen him assisting 8 goals for his teammates and scoring a remarkable goal for his side.

Goalscorers (Gang Bintang):
M. Khalid (5), Anwar (3), Rizal (3), Gafur (3), Lada (2), Jethro (1)

Goalscorers (KLIUC Griffin):
Medi (1)

Best Player (Gang Bintang): Jethro (1 goal, 8 assists)
Best Player (KLIUC Griffin): Medi (1 goal)

Game 4: Bangi Rusty Blade 4 - 2 Subang Rascals

The biggest game in matchday 1 saw debutant, Bangi Rusty Blade, stunned last season's runner-up by winning them 4 - 2. Bangi Rusty Blade with several new acquisition, including M. Syazni who just got back from Finland with the Singaporean team due to the World Championships a week ago, during the transfer window proved that they are gunning for the title this season.

Subang Rascals took the lead first but it was the home team who kept the attacks coming and it was worth the effort. Goals from Faz, Syazni, Jian Da and Termin were good enough to give them a comfortable 4 - 2 win. Termin also set up a goal for his teammate during the match.

Overall, this match was a mouth-watering battle as both teams played fast-paced attacking floorball.

Goalscorers (Bangi Rusty Blade):
Faz (1), Syazni (1), Jian Da (1), Termin (1)

Goalscorers (Subang Rascals):
Snake (1), Calle (1)

Best Player (Bangi Rusty Blade): Termin (1 goal, 1 assist)
Best Player (Subang Rascals): Snake (1 goal, 1 assist)

Quick Fact of Matchday 1: A total of 51 goals were scored through 34 goalscorers yesterday.

It is finally arriving ! Floorball players and fans have been waiting for the whole year. The long-awaited Selangor Floorball League 2010/2011 is happening this weekend ! We have action-packed and this weekend's opening matches are a cruncher. This is the SFL 2010/2011 Matchday 1 Preview.

Game 1: GMI White Knights v. Salibandy!Co. (11am-1pm)

GMI and Salibandy!Co. start the season off with GMI playing their first league match in their club history. This will be a history-making match for them. However, it is also one of their toughest. GMI was formed mainly young and inexperienced players will have to pull off a big surprise in their playbook. Salibandy!Co. was the 2nd runner-up in last season's SFL and is expected to be much stronger this season. Without any doubt, Salibandy!Co. will be firing in all cylinders with their fast-paced offenses.

Prediction: Salibandy!Co. will dominate the game and win this match against GMI White Knights.

Match Officials: Muiz & Gerard

Game 2: Gracebandy!Co. v. KLIUC Hornets (1pm-3pm)

Another debutant in the new season, Gracebandy!Co. was formed mainly of players who were playing for Salibandy!Co. last season. The new team has at least a year of experience in the sport and this could benefit their team for the league. However, they are playing a much stronger KLIUC Hornets this weekend and Hornets, with most players from KLIUC Griffin last season, will be in for a great match.

Prediction: This will be a tight match but KLIUC Hornets will pull off with a big win.

Match Officials: Alvin & Fazrullah

Game 3: Gang Bintang v. KLIUC Griffins (3pm-5pm)

Floorball fans will be invited for a treat as the defending champions, Gang Bintang, will begin their campaign against a much depleted KLIUC Griffins squad. The new Griffins squad is not the same as last season's and was formed mainly of inexperienced but talented players. Gang Bintang, despite losing some of their key players during the transfer window, will be led by their new skipper, Jethro Wong, to start off their title defence and even continuing their unbeaten streak.

Prediction: Without a doubt, Gang Bintang will be the favourites to win this game.

Match Officials: Suresh & Hafidz

Game 4: Bangi Rusty Blade v. Subang Rascals (5pm-7pm)

The final match of matchday 1 will see debutant, Bangi Rusty Blade, play the mighty Subang Rascals. However, Subang Rascals has an additional defensive force after the transfer window and will also be going all-out to clinch the important 2 points. This match is a must-win game for both sides and it will be one of the floorball classics in Selangor.

Prediction: This match will be really tight as both sides share the same odds of winning. But Subang Rascals is the better team from tactical wise.

Match Officials: Taqi & Jethro

SFA Player Interview: Jethro Wong

Jethro (right) in a friendly match against Singapore ITE in June 2010
Player Factfile:

Name: Jethro Wong Siew Weng
Position: Centre/Forward
Grip: Right
D.O.B: 23 August 1990
Club(s): Gang Bintang (2009-present)
Salibandy!Co. (2008-2009)
Honours: Selangor Floorball League 2009 Winners

One of the well-known players in the SFL and everyone calls him "Jet". The cheeky, young Gang Bintang skipper, Jethro Wong shared his thoughts on the new season as well as his tough task in leading the defending champions to glory again. Hafidz, our SFA reporter managed to get him for an interview and here is what Jethro has to say.

Hafidz's Interview with Jethro
SFA: Hi Jethro, thank you for agreeing to have this interview with us.

Jethro: My pleasure, it is an honor to share my thoughts with you.

SFA: 8 teams this season, 14 weeks of games!!! What do you expect?

Jethro: It will definitely be challenging and intense ; both physically and mentally. This shows how SFL has improved within just a year. I would be expecting even more teams to participate in the near future. But in the meantime, I can’t wait for the upcoming season.

SFA: Playing at the new arena (Shah Alam), what is your opinion about this court?

Jethro: I played on this court few times before, the condition is about the same as our previous venue and it is a suitable place to host SFL 2010/2011. Plus, the large stands can allow us to invite many spectators to watch the matches as well ! (hints to all players)
Gang Bintang Championship Winning Squad 2009

SFA: Some rumors have been heard that you will go to Bangi Rusty Blade. Are you willing to move from Gang Bintang to join them?

Jethro: Well, I don’t have any intentions in moving to any clubs at the moment. I like Gang Bintang’s playing style and my teammates are really nice to me. And Khalid trusts me enough to hand me the captain’s armband despite spending only one season in the club. So, it is a great honor to be playing alongside him and the whole team.

SFA :What do you think about the league title? Which team will be a title contender?

Jethro: The upcoming season will be a fierce title race. Besides the BIG TWO (Gang Bintang and Subang Rascals), I can see Bangi Rusty Blade and Salibandy!Co. stepping up the challenge and are well-organized in their attacking/defensive plays. It would be a serious competition between these four clubs in competing for the title. Apart from them, the other teams might pull off some big surprise in important matches too. So, this will be an exciting edition that I’ll be looking forward to.

SFA: As a captain of Gang Bintang, your team is defending the title this coming season. Are they still going to try bringing imported players from others league to achieve this?

Jethro: At the moment, we are still sticking to most of the players from last season; both domestic and imported players. But I would say that our domestic players will perform better compared to last season after our exposure to the very first SFL. After all, you have to learn from experience.

SFA: There were some rumors that other teams in SFL will get their imported players, what do you think?

Jethro: It is good that teams are bringing in imported players to the league in order to raise competitiveness in achieving their ambition of winning the title. But I believe every team should focus on developing their domestic players and maintaining the balance of the team, and not relying heavily on imported players. Apart from that, I am glad and looking forward to greater challenges.

SFA: Your Ex Captain (Sjaiful) has transferred to your rival club Subang Rascals. What do you feel when you and other mates will play against him at SFL?

Jethro: No hard feelings towards him of course, he has expressed his desire to leave the club for a good cause and we respect his decision. After all, we are still friends. But playing against him would be one of the biggest challenges we will face as a team because he basically knows most of our plays and without any doubt in mind, he is a really good floorball player and I look up to him for that. So, he will be one of the threats when Gang Bintang meets Subang Rascals.

SFA: Last word from you to get preparing for SFL 2010/2011?

Jethro: Practice right makes perfect and play with a good attitude. =)

JACT Junior 2010

I know I am about 2 weeks late, but oh well, it is better late than never. (Haha!) JACT Junior 2010 was a blast 2 weeks ago (14 November 2010) and many of us have seen the passion and excitement these young participants have shown while they are playing floorball.

Special thanks to AMSA Sports who have been actively involved in the development of these young players and Selangor Floorball Association appreciates all the hardwork and effort given by AMSA and those who volunteered to help in this successful event.

A little introduction to this event: It was a 4-on-4 tournament comprises of 2 categories; Primary school and Secondary school. 7 minutes per half (two halves) and standard IFF rules applied (except for jerseys). It was held in our new homeground for Selangor Floorball League in the volleyball hall of Section 19, Shah Alam, and some SFA officials managed to find the place without getting lost. Good job guys ! (Haha.)

Suresh and the teams of
Secondary School Category
The tournament was displayed with tremendous performance by all participants and the crowd was cheering for every team during the tournament. There were many interesting and wonderful goals, slick dribbling skills etc. Those who have missed it, then you better not miss next year's edition !

On behalf of Selangor Floorball Association, I would like to thank Gilbert, person-in-charge of AMSA, AMSA Sports, and the rest of the organizing team for putting this tournament a grand success. SFA will be there to support AMSA Sports in whichever way that we could in the further development of the youth in Selangor floorball.

So, like I have mentioned above, those who have missed it this year, you better not miss it again next year !

SFL 2010/2011 Team Review - Gracebandy!Co.

Another newcomer in the Selangor Floorball League 2010/2011; Gracebandy!Co. is another breakthrough in Selangor floorball as the team is preparing for the league. Having the privilege to train with them for the past few months, it is no doubt that Gracebandy!Co. can pull off a big upset to one of the experienced teams in the league.

Gracebandy!Co. squad of 2010/2011
(part of them)
The club was established in 2009 and separating from Salibandy!Co., its parent club in SFL 2009. The club's main reason in going independent is to promote floorball in Subang Jaya, Shah Alam and USJ area. They first started off at a public futsal court in USJ as there were no other suitable places around. However, they have succeeded in securing the Volleyball Hall in Section 19 of Shah Alam which has also become the homeground of SFA for its major floorball events.

The name "Grace" in Gracebandy!Co. is because most players are from Grace Shah Alam, a church in the area, and they want to play floorball gracefully while Co. stands for action and "Christian Organization" is similar to Salibandy!Co. and Innebandy!Co. (Penang).

First floorball session at USJ in 2009
In mid-2010, AMSA Floorball had agreed to sponsor Gracebandy!Co. in its floorball equipment and jersey under floorball manufacturer, Blast. This proves to be a huge step for the club in its short period of establishment.

The club is led by their skipper, Philip, and they believed the club's primary goal is to becoming the best debutant in the upcoming league. A personal message from Gerard, the founder of Gracebandy!Co,

"We want to face the other teams in the league with courage and humility and respect for their passion in floorball. Wasn't easy for each team in the league as each had their own hurdles but finally the league is here and we wish them all the best in the league and their further promotion of the sport in Klang Valley."
- Gerard Ang, Gracebandy!Co.

According to critic, Gracebandy!Co. consists of many talented players and the contribution from its experienced players will help the club to grow competitively. Their chances in the title contention are slimmer compared to the experienced teams, but they are expected to finish the season at the mid-table position.

Gracebandy!Co. will begin its debut in the league against KLIUC Hornets, the 4th placed team in SFL 2009, on Matchday 1 (18 December 2010).

SFL 2010/2011 Team Review - Salibandy!Co.

Salibandy means “floorball” in Finnish. and CO. means “Christ’s Organization”. Salibandy!Co. has been one of the most active clubs, not only in Selangor, but probably even in Malaysia. They have participated in tournaments held in Selangor and Penang for a number of years already. The 2nd runner-up of last season is our SFA “Team of the Week” as we count down to Selangor Floorball 2010/2011.

Founded by Malaysian international player, Deswyn Wan of Innebandy!Co.(Penang) in 2005. This club is an affiliation of Tunku Abdul Rahman College (TARC) Christian Fellowship as a part of their sports ministry.

The team is led by their skipper, Gan Kel Sern, who is known as a quick player by many players in Selangor. When asked about Salibandy!Co.’s objectives for this season, he said, “Our goal this year is to do our best in every game and play with good sportsmanship. Yes we need much improvement on the latter but we’ll try to get there as soon as possible.” He also hopes that Salibandy!Co. will be give other teams in the SFL a surprise, and a good surprise since the club has already started their training sessions for the league.

The club has recruited many young talented players and will be giving them the opportunity to play in the upcoming league. They believe in encouragement and opportunity, so everybody gets to play in Salibandy!Co.

According to critic, Salibandy!Co. has improved a lot in their tactical plays but still expect to see their defence to be much organized compared to the previous season. Salibandy!Co. is definitely one of the contenders for the SFL title.

Salibandy!Co. will face SFL new boys, GMI White Knights in their opening match on 18 December 2010.

SFL 2010/2011 Team Review - GMI White Knights

In the English dictionary, Knight (naɪt) simply means “A defender, champion, or zealous upholder of a cause or principle. A team who has no experienced players in the squad will begin their journey in Selangor floorball soon and could change the course of the game in years to come. GMI White Knights is one of the underdogs in the upcoming Selangor Floorball League (SFL) season and will be featured in this week’s Selangor Floorball Association team review.

GMI White Knights is a newly established team. They were established in late 2009 by Mohd. Hafidz.,one of the pioneers in introducing floorball within local institutions; KLIUC is one of his most successful developments.

GMI White Knights squad 2010/2011
The team is led by their skipper, Ridha Hafidz who has grown great interest in the sport and stepped up the challenge to lead his very first floorball team. According to Mohd. Hafidz, “GMI is a team who has a superb team spirit as well as very good in discipline.” He was impressed with the training and effort each GMI White Knights players give and is relieved that this young floorball team is taking up the challenge to face the experienced team in the upcoming SFL.

According to critic, GMI plays rough tactical plays; they are brave in challenging for possessions and well-organized in defence. They could bring surprises to the opposition in their counterattack and should not be underestimated by experienced teams in the upcoming SFL.

"SFL 2010/2011 - bring it on!"
This coming SFL will be GMI’s first official league and they are targeting to finish in the top 5 of the league. With some experiences in the previous tournaments, like the Pre-League 4 on 4 tournament at UM in July 2010, we believe they are matured in skills and tactical wise, and their target could be achievable as long as their mind is set towards it.

The Knights will face an uphill task in their season opener against Salibandy!Co., the 2nd runner-up in last season’s SFL.

An Interview with Hafidz (Bangi Rusty Blade)

Name : Mohd. Hafidz Zainal Abidin

Position : Defender

Grip : Right

D.O.B : 15.10.1984

Club(s): Bangi Rusty Blade (2010-)
Z-Tec 8cers (loan - 2009)
KLIUC Griffins (2009-2010)

National Team: Malaysia (2008 -)

Recently, the editor of Selangor Floorball League managed to catch up with Hafidz, one of the most respectable players and founder of most of the clubs in the league, for an interview. We are inspired by his works in promoting floorball around the institutions in Selangor.

The editor's interview with Hafidz

SFL: Hi Hafidz, this is the first interview out of more to come that we will be conducting, as we want to know more about your opinion on the upcoming season.

Congratulations in pioneering and forming 4 out of 8 teams in the league, what is your secret driving force behind the successful establishments of these 4 clubs (KLIUC Hornets, Griffins, GMI White Knights, Bangi Rusty Blade) ?

Hafidz : Hi and thanks, actually I don’t have much secret in doing all this. I just “minimize the discussion and maximize the work”, and the key point here is, you should be honest with whatever you do.

SFL: With the season is just less than 2 months away, do you think all the teams participating in the Selangor Floorball League 2010 will be ready and fit for the intensive 14-week back-to-back challenge?

Hafidz: Comparing with the previous season, they have an experience on how to set up the team such as training and pre-season friendly match. Hopefully all the players will be mentally and physically ready.

SFL: Gang Bintang and Subang Rascals are always the favourites to challenge for the title, what advices can you give to the other 6 teams in posing threat to these two clubs ?

Hafidz: "Favourites" don’t mean they will win the league. With a good attitude and tactical, I’m sure all the other teams will do better if they have these elements. And I’m sure that teams such as Bangi Rusty Blade, KLIUC Hornets and Salibandy!Co. will also be the title contender and KLIUC Griffins, GMI White Knights and Gracebandy!Co. will give a good spirit against any opponents they meet. Especially GMI White Knights, I personally think that they are a team that have a very good discipline.

SFL: Your club, Bangi Rusty Blade, managed to hold the champions 7-7 in your first pre-season game, is it what you have expected or something that has surprised you? And why?

Hafidz: I don’t care with the result, what WE expected was just to give a good game with the superb tactical, discipline, and physical. All these things will be our objective of pre-season match by doing well in the league and win it.

SFL: With Sjaiful and Arizal have left Gang Bintang for Subang Rascals and KLIUC Hornets respectively, and both as we all agreed that they have been playing a key defensive role in the championship win last season, will it going to jeopardize their title defence? And why?

Hafidz: Big NO NO!!! To have a good team is not defined by the number of good players, but is to remain confident and discipline at all times. No surprise at all if they still can play well with the current disposal or adding up new players as long as they have good confidence and discipline.

SFL: KLIUC Hornets were the underdogs last season, in your opinion, which team will be the underdog for this coming season? And why?

Hafidz: I prefer all teams to be the underdog. It is because in the Selangor Floorball League, we develop to achieving a high level quality game.

SFL: Any predictions on how the league will end ?

Hafidz: I don’t talk about predictions. Thank you. I just want all teams to give their good performance.

SFL: Which player has impressed you the most so far, whether it is in the league or pre-season friendly? And why?

Hafidz: I've identified a lot of players that will have good potential in the future. I can’t name all of them here. But the main ones are Malik, Naqi, Hairee, Amir, Huzairyazlan (Bangi Rusty Blade), Anwar, Jethro, Song Sing, Shareena (Gang Bintang), Fazrullah and Ahmed (KLIUC Griffin), Taqi, Faiz, Azmill, Iffat , Azim, Muiz, Alea, Mira and Zuhri (KLIUC Hornets), Snake and Zahir (Subang Rascals) , Andy and Jonathan (Salibandy!Co.) , Ridha, Bard and Haris ( GMI White Knights) . This is because I’ve seen great determination in their eyes.

SFL: Apart from the league, what is your personal vision in the years to come for the sport in Selangor? Any objectives or goals that you have been aiming for?

Hafidz: My vision is to make SFL as The Best League in ASIA. And my objective is to set up all places and IPTA/IPTS have their own teams with a high level assistance by the others.

The editor of SFL would like to thank Hafidz for such a wonderful time. We would like to wish him and his team the best of luck in the upcoming league.

Pre-Season Friendly (20 March 2010)

The 2nd series of pre-season friendly will be happening this weekend ! This time, GMI White Knights will take on Salibandy!Co., Gang Bintang to take on KLIUC Hornets, and Bangi Rusty Blade to take on Subang Rascals.

Here is a brief review on all teams:

GMI White Knights
  • Despite the defeat to KLIUC Selection two months ago, the critics believe that the club is progressing rather well than expected.
  • This time, they will be facing Salibandy!Co., a team that is more experienced compared to GMI.
  • Critics believe that GMI's chances of winning this game are rather slim, but we would also be expecting a great fight from them in this game.

Salibandy!Co.
  • Defeat to KLIUC Hornets 2 weeks ago is not a sweet return from a long break.
  • Critics were surprised that Salibandy!Co. did not show much fighting spirit during the game compared to what we have seen last season.
  • However, their offence has improved a lot and their attacking plays are getting faster.
  • But, they should really work on their defence as many of the Hornets' goals were textbook finishes.
  • Critics believe that Salibandy!Co. can pull a win over GMI easily.

Gang Bintang
  • The biggest upset in Selangor floorball history when Gang Bintang was held 7-7 to newcomers, Bangi Rusty Blade.
  • With most key players were not featured in the game against Bangi, Gang Bintang's defence has been rather sloppy compared to the much organized defence last season.
  • We should be seeing most of their key players return to action this weekend.
  • But one thing for sure, critics believe that Gang Bintang will not show any mercy to their KLIUC counterpart.
KLIUC Hornets
  • A team that will not give up until the end of the game, Hornets managed to pull back their rhythm in their game against Salibandy!Co. in the final period and end the game with a 10-6 win.
  • Reformed Hornets have improved a lot and many former Griffins players have contributed a lot to the win.
  • However, their defence has been rather scattered at some point in the game.
  • Critics believe that KLIUC Hornets have what it takes to cause Gang Bintang trouble.

Bangi Rusty Blade
  • They have defy the odds by holding Gang Bintang to a draw. And now, they will be facing the mighty Subang Rascals, a team that started off with just 4 outfield players and has to loan other players for a full squad against Gracebandy!Co. two weeks ago.
  • Bangi Rusty Blade has been causing too many troubles to Gang Bintang's defence and they have taken advantage over the Champions' sloppy defence.
  • However, they have to be cautious with Subang Rascals' fast-paced offences.
  • Critics believe that Bangi Rusty Blade will have a rather slimmer chance to repeat their miraculous encounter this weekend.

Subang Rascals
  • A team that everyone called "The Mighty Rascals". Despite starting off with fewer players two weeks ago, Rascals managed to give their opponents a hard time and thrashed them with a 11-6 scoreline.
  • Bearing the "Never Give Up" attitude, Rascals players are committed to fight till the end despite being handicapped in terms of number of players present.
  • Critics believe that Subang Rascals will pull a win over Bangi Rusty Blade this weekend.

Pre-Season Friendly: The Clash of the Titans !

Date: 6 March 2010
Time: 1pm-7pm
Venue: Sports Plaza, Section 13, PJ

The long-awaited series of pre-season friendlies are happening real soon ! Featuring one of the top teams in Selangor till the underdogs in the SFL 2010. Gang Bintang and Subang Rascals have been dubbed as one of the favourites in the upcoming league will be facing their two newly formed opponents in this weekend. Salibandy!Co. will be re-establishing their rivalry with KLIUC Hornets as they play each other this weekend. The list below is the team review for the upcoming friendly.

Gang Bintang
  • No doubt, they have been regarded as the goal-scoring machines and literal meaning of thrasher as they have thrashed their opponents throughout last season.
  • The invincibles of last season will be facing Bangi Rusty Blade, a new team for the upcoming league.
  • However, it has been told by insiders that they will be missing several key players for this game.

Subang Rascals
  • The other team that has been thrashing their way throughout last season despite losing out to their fiercest rivals, Gang Bintang.
  • It was expected as well that Rascals will be missing several key players for their match against Gracebandy!Co., another new outfit for the upcoming season.
  • But we will be able to see the regular Rascals squad which consists of Snake, Suresh, Dennis, Henrik and co.

Salibandy!Co.
  • Despite losing several key players at the start of last season, Salibandy!Co. managed to defy the odds and clinch a third-place finish.
  • But critics have told that Salibandy!Co. will not pull off a win if they do not organize their defence well against a reformed KLIUC Hornets this weekend.
  • The team achieved the worst defensive record last season as they have conceded 75 goals last season.

KLIUC Hornets
  • Reformed KLIUC Hornets will be expected to be a new threat to other teams in the upcoming season of SFL. With former Griffins' skipper, Muizzudin in the team, it is no doubt that Hornets will be stronger and meaner this time.
  • This match will serve as a replay of last season's final game where Hornets have lost to Salibandy!Co. and failed to clinch the third-place.
  • Hornets will surely seek revenge over that defeat last season.

Gracebandy!Co.
  • The sister club of Salibandy!Co., Gracebandy!Co. consists of several players from last season's Salibandy!Co. squad.
  • According to insiders, Gracebandy!Co. is fairly new to the game and the "veteran" is Gerard who is the most experienced player in the sport.
  • Meeting their toughest opponent in their first game as an individual club, Gracebandy!Co. will have to strategize perfectly in order to match up with the fast-paced, skillful Subang Rascals players.

Bangi Rusty Blade
  • Another proud team managed by Hafidz, Bangi Rusty Blade consisted of several KLIUC players and Hafidz has a vision to make this team as one of the competitors for the title.
  • Has been dubbed by critics as one of the underdogs for the upcoming season, Bangi Rusty Blade will be facing last season's champions, Gang Bintang in a classic "David vs. Goliath" match.

Gracebandy!Co. vs. Subang Rascals (1pm-3pm)
