The official opening of Selangor Floorball League started off with a game between Salibandy!Co. and KLIUC Hornets. Hornets seeked revenge over their huge loss in their pre-season friendly few months ago against Salibandy!Co. and entered the game with full of confidence. Both sides have a strong line of players and fresh players to sub at any point of the game.

First period:

The first period has been a tight encounter as both sides played a more cautious attacking play. 11 minutes into 1st period, Salibandy!Co. has broken the deadlock as Andrian (7) made a vital pass to Alvin (28) and he scored the first goal of the League.

It took Hornets 6 minutes to get the equalizer with a great solo run by Zulfadli (18) from the left wing and he scored in a one-on-one situation with the keeper. Hornets seems motivated by the equalizer and went on to score the 2nd with another great run by Zulfadli (18) at the 19th minute. *Salibandy!Co. 1-2 KLIUC Hornets*


Second period:

Hornets went into the 2nd period with high hopes of winning. They went on to score their 3rd goal in just 2 minutes into the play after a nice set-up by Zahir Fikri (7) for Amir Zamri (17) to score past Salibandy!Co. keeper, Danush.

However, Salibandy!Co. players were not giving up as they managed to draw the margin closer by scoring their 2nd goal in just 6 minutes; another great goal by Alvin (28). *Salibandy!Co. 2-3 KLIUC Hornets*


Third period:

At third period, both sides have been fighting hard to claim glory. But it was Hornets who made the breakthrough in just 7 minutes with a goal by Khairul (8) and granting Hornets a two-goal cushion.

At the final 3 minutes into the period, Salibandy!Co. went power play and this is probably the wisest decision ever as they came back from a 2-goal deficit to equalize the score with 2 goals by Andrian (7) on the final minute of the 3rd period.

The match ended 4-4.

The 2nd match of the League is Subang Rascals against KLIUC Griffin. Subang Rascals has been well-known for their 100% tournament records in the previous years and will be aiming for the top spot of the League. However, this fact will not stop Griffin any chances to overcome their opponent.

First period:

The match started with Rascals won the face-off. Griffin has been playing defensively as Rascals are taking shots from any area of the court. However, Griffin took advantage from a counter attack and converted it into a goal with Muhd. Afiq (77) scored Griffin’s first goal of the League.

It took Rascals 7 minutes to score the equalizer after several vital saves by Griffin’s keeper, Azmill (1). Henrik (3) of Rascals unleashed a powerful shot from the centre court following a pass from Shaun (8) and the ball went into the back of the net with Azmill (1) no chance at all in stopping it. This goal would probably be one of the goals of the season.

After the equalizer, it seems like the match has turned into Rascals’ fortunes and the players were motivated. In the 15th minute, Dennis (7) managed to score Rascals’ 2nd goal. Seconds later, Matthew (9) scored from a rebound deflected of Sasi’s shot and making him the youngest scorer in the league. Second period:

The 5th goal of Rascals came after 25 seconds into the 2nd period from a well-taken shot by Sasi (81). But Griffin managed to pull the margin closer by scoring their 2nd goals through Taqiuddin (99). Rascals were not going to let that 2nd goal to bring down the team morale as they kept on pressing Griffin’s defence.

At the 4th minute, Carlos (78) scored the team’s 6th goal. Azmill Hadzim has done all he could to keep the ball out of the net. Rascals claimed their 7th goal through Vicki (12) after a great attacking play by Rascals. At this point of the game, it seems pretty one-sided as Rascals led 7-2 over Griffin. Susanne (30) of Rascals was on her top form for saving many shots from Griffin.

The remaining 10 minutes of the period was a goal-fest for Rascals. At the 11th minute, Dennis (7) caught the Griffin keeper off guard as he scored Rascals 8th goal. 3 minutes later, Bing Hock (5) managed to take a shot and the ball squeezed past Azmill Hadzim (1) and thus increased Rascals lead to 9-2. Sasi (81) then scored at the 17th minute to make the lead 10-2. Griffin’s defence has been punished for their mistakes as Dennis became the league’s first “Hat-Trick Hero” by scoring his third goal and Rascals’ 11th of the game at the 18th minute. *Subang Rascals 11-2 KLIUC Griffin*


Third period:

Subang Rascals went into the 3rd period with a more defensive play to avoid conceding any more goals. However, Muizzuddin (4), the skipper of Griffin, managed to score past Susanne and making the scoreline 3-11.

Rascals then went on to complete the match by scoring two more goals. At the 18th minute, Carlos (78) took a great shot and scored Rascals 12th goal whereas Connor (10) scored the final goal of the match following a great set-up by Shaun (8).

The match ended Subang Rascals 13-3.

Game 3: Gang Bintang v Salibandy!Co.

Gang Bintang has a huge advantage in this match as most of Salibandy!Co. players were tired after their first match against KLIUC Hornets. Gang Bintang started off with Sjaiful (12) and Arizal (24) on the defence, Khalid (26) on the centre, and Lada (35) and Jethro (14) on the offense. Jethro is no-stranger to Salibandy players as he is playing against his former team on his debut for Gang Bintang. Another former Salibandy!Co. players on Gang Bintang’s side are Song (11) and Edwin (8).


First period:

Gang Bintang started the period with a more balanced style of play. It paid off when Khalid (26) managed to find an opportunity to score after a great set-up by Sjaiful (12) and scoring the first goal of the match after just 2 minutes. 6 minutes into the play, Arizal (24) hit a lob shot over Salibandy!Co. players and the ball somehow deflected off one of the defenders and went into the net.

Illyaz (1), the keeper of Gang Bintang made several saves to keep Salibandy players from any attempts of equalizing the scoreline.

At the 14th minute of the game, Jethro (14) of Gang Bintang made an impressive through ball past the Salibandy defence and Khalid (26) went on to score the team’s 3rd goal. 20 seconds later, Arizal (24) set up Khalid (26) and he scored the 4th goal of the game. *Gang Bintang 4-0 Salibandy!Co.*


Second period:

After few post-first period talks, Gang Bintang played a more attacking style of play in the 2nd period as they are aiming to take over the lead in the League table. It is pretty obvious that Salibandy!Co. has re-shuffled their lines and played a more cautious defensive play.

However, it was another great set-up by Jethro (14) from the right flank and his pass created a chance for Khalid (26) to score his hat-trick and Gang Bintang’s 5th at the 2nd minute of the period. Gang Bintang then kept on pressing the opposition’s defence and Anuar (30) took advantage over the scrambled Salibandy defence and scored Gang Bintang’s 6th goal.

Salibandy!Co. has made several vital shots but Illyaz (1) on his superb form and he kept the ball out of the net. It seems like Gang Bintang has a very solid defensive line as they played with a rather organized play.

At the 6th minute, Raziq (28) scored Gang Bintang’s 7th goal after the pass from Tasha (20) managed to past through the opposition’s defence. 8 minutes later, Anuar (30) set up Khalid (26) and he scored the 8th goal of the game and his 4th. A minute later, Anuar (30) set up Khalid (26) once again and he then scored the 9th goal of the game.

At the 17th minute, Khalid (26) then set up Lada (35) and he went on to score Gang Bintang’s 10th goal of the game. Geng Bintang has been dominating the game throughout the 2 periods. *Gang Bintang 10-0 Salibandy!Co.*


Third period:

Gang Bintang has switched into a more defensive play at the 3rd period to prevent conceding any goals. However, this tactical play did not stop them from scoring their 11th goal as Khalid (26) scored his 6th goal following a pass from Shareena (33).

The goal-fest did not end as Gafur (17) scored his first goal of the game at the 6th minute. Few minutes into the period, several Geng Bintang players have offended the jersey code and thus suspended from the game.

Nevertheless, Gang Bintang kept the team morale high as Khalid (26) scored Gang Bintang’s 13th goal and his 7th. And seconds later, Gafur (17) scored his 2nd of the match following a great set up by Sjaiful (12). The 15th goal came after several shots blocked by Salibandy!Co. keeper, Ying Ying (55) and Gafur then score his hat-trick at the 13th minute.

6 minutes later, Khalid then concluded the scoreline by scoring his 8th goal of the match following a great ball control and making it 16-0. Illyaz (1) became the first keeper to keep a clean sheet in the League on matchday 1.

The match ended Gang Bintang 16-0.
